Yesterday the GPS signal from Kim dissappeared from the GPS website. And Kim was found dead near the nest. Here the explanation from the WTE´s team in GT translation: 17-11-2020
The sea eagle Kim, from Lolland, is unfortunately dead, not very far from the nest where it was tagged earlier this year. The eagle will of course be autopsied in order to uncover the cause of death, but there is no immediate indication that it has died of unnatural causes.
We are of course very sad to lose one of the eagles in the project, but are at the same time grateful that the GPS transmitter allowed us to find it. That way we can better understand what the Danish sea eagles are dying from and in the end it can help us protect them.
